One-Future-Preis 2008
		The One Future Award 2008 of the Interfilm Academy Munich, is presented to director Laurent Cantet for his filmwork ENTRE LES MURS (The Class), France 2008.
The film is shot completely in the rooms of a school situated in the 20th Arrondissement of Paris, namely the hotbed of Banlieues. A French grammatic teacher not only attempts to give lessons to underprivileged young teens, many of whom many of whom have roots from other parts of the world, the language of the country they now live in, but also the importance of human values and social acceptance.
		Director Laurent Cantet and author Francois Bégaudeau, who also plays the leading role and in reality taught in a similar school , have created after long and intensive preparations with the young non-professional actors an impressive and authentic atmosphere. Cultural and social tensions collide. The multi-ethnic students become an enormous challenge for the duressed faculty and culminates through several situations to an enormous existence conflict.

The partially improvised scenes have been constructed with a clear and enthralling dramaturgy. Teacher and students learn tolerance and respect within the confines of the classroom and struggle together to discover as well as develop their individual identities.

The message of the film can be understood by every cinema audience throughout the world. ENTRE LES MURS targets important impulses in intercultural communications and underscores that education is paramount for the future of Mankind: ONE FUTURE.
