Die Interfilm-Akademie München vergab am 26. November 2005 zum ersten Mal im Gloria Filmpalast (München, Karlsplatz) den neugestifteten PRIX INTERCULTUREL 2005 auf dem 25. Internationalen Festival der Filmhochschulen München.

Der PRIX INTERCULTUREL ist mit € 5.000,- dotiert und prämiert aus dem Festivalprogramm junger Filmschaffenden den Film, der in filmästhetisch wie ethisch überzeugender Weise den interkulturellen Dialog thematisiert.

Die Interfilm Akademie München verleiht ihren in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal vergebenen Prix Interculturel an den Film BILINGUAL von Autor und Regisseur Chamoun Issa von der National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield bei London.
In dieser nicht immer politisch korrekten Komödie geht es um eine bevorstehende Hochzeit in einer gut situierten libanesischen Immigrantenfamilie in London, erzählt aus der Sicht der Teenagertochter. Mit Stil und einer erfrischenden Leichtigkeit behandelt der Film ernsthafte Themen wie Einwanderung, Integration, kulturelle und religiöse Werte, soziale Unterschiede und den Generationenkonflikt, die zum Zusammenprall gegensätzlicher Kulturen beitragen. Mit subtilen Humor und Ironie zeigt Chamoun Issa, dass Toleranz der Schlüssel zu einem glücklichen Leben ist - unabhängig von der kulturellen Herkunft.
BILINGUAL ist ein hervorragender Film auf höchstem künstlerischen wie technischem Niveau. Drehbuch, Regie, Schauspielerleistung, Kameraarbeit, Produktionsdesign, Schnitt und Musik sind herausragend und ordnen sich - was noch wichtiger ist - doch alle dem Film als Ganzem unter.
Die chaotischen Probleme in der Welt von heute könnten alle von gestern sein, wenn man - wie die junge Protagonistin im Film - fantasiereiche Wege fände, um Vorurteile zu überwinden.

The Munich Interfilm-Akademie, which awarded its PRIX INTERCULTUREL for the 1st time on the occasion of its 25th anniversary last year will once again be awarding it to a film in competition at the 25th Munich International Festival of Film Schools.
The award and its €5000 prize money, according to Rev. Eckart Bruchner, the director of the Interfilm-Akademie, is intended to promote and support intercultural dialogue between young filmmakers as well as tolerance in the free exchange of ideas particularly in regard to issues involving ethics and religion.
The Munich Interfilm Academy awards its first Prix Interculturel to BILINGUAL, written and directed by Chamoun Issa from the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield outside of London.
This not always politically correct comedy revolves around an upcoming marriage in a family of well-to-do Lebanese immigrants in London as seen through the eyes of the teenage daughter and deals with serious issues with style and effervescence. Immigration, integration, cultural and religious values and social differences as well as the generation gap are the topics that culture clash is made of. With subtle humor and irony, Chamoun Issa shows that tolerance is the key to the pursuit of happiness, regardless of cultural origin.
BILINGUAL is a film of superlatives on both the artistic and technical levels. The screenplay, direction, acting, camera work, production design, editing and music are all first-rate in themselves but, more importantly, all serve the film as a whole.
The chaotic problems in the world today could all be history if people, like the film's young protagonist, found imaginative ways to circumvent the prejudice in their lives.

L'Académie Interfilm de Munich distribuera son nouveau PRIX INTERCULTUREL pour la première fois lors du 25ième Festival International des ècoles de cinéma le 26 novembre 2005.
Le PRIX INTERCULTUREL est doté de € 5.000,- et prime le film du concours du festival qui - d'un point de vue éstétique et éthique - thématise le mieux le dialogue interculturel .
